Four of us today... a petite group of creativitea, easy flow, quiet creating, warm conversation ... and a special guest my dear friend and writer Lynika. the Lovely Lyndall and luminous Lisa... all the way from Brisbane... it's her 4th one!! We share the mixed media addiction which is a very fun kind of thing to share in a friendship! and my piece below is coming along slowly, it's got a hand-written letter from my Mother in the background (which isn't showing in this pic) and in it she says "I'm sitting down with a cup of tea" ... it's quite a contemplative piece for me.. and reminding me very much of my sister Min (Maria). bye for now,
love Denise xo I've been aware of 'yellow' a bit of late.. I rarely if ever use yellow...so it was interesting to be reminded by a friend yesterday that yellow nurtures the solar plexus chakra.. which is all about emotional support. So... I took a photo of my yellow nasturtiums in the garden today and made it my screen saver on iphone. There are more ways to bring colour into your day then just wearing them :0) My little white chicken has been really cheeky and coming indoors quite a bit lately.. she is very intent on doing something in P's drawing area ... I keep evicting her before she has a chance to .... do... whatever the heck she has in mind.
Simple things are making me happy today. and a reminder with yellow to 'Trust Your Gut". Love Denise xo I'd like to share a beautiful video with you - it's by Katie Kendrick, It's about 44 minutes long, and very inspiring and encouraging for artists. https://vimeo.com/36247839 or use the link below. "Painting as poetry - Self Discovery In the Dynamic Flow" I was given the link just today by my friend Lisa. (thank you Lisa, SO much!)
I have recently discovered art journaling, as some of you might have heard me mention already via my facebook page, and the topics Katie covers in this video parallel my own is so many ways it's quite uncanny. My creative practice has been in transition for over two years now, and it has become clearer to me in recent times that if I am going to be able to contintue to paint as well as bring life to my soul then I need to make time more often to engage in art as my spiritual practice, a connection to Source. It can not be 'just a job' ... at times in the past 10+ years when I have felt the weight of this, 'being a job thing' it has taken too big a toll on me to let it be ignored. I've glimpsed the intangible 'in the zone' feeling many times over the years, but now I am much more aware of it or more to point, I notice when it's missing. These following words hit the nail right on the head. "IF YOU FIND YOURSELF SLUGGISH AND FATIGUED WHILE YOU'RE PAINTING . . . THERE'S BEEN A BREAK IN THE CONNECTION" ~ Katie Kendrick I'll sign off for now, ponderingly, Denise xo |

Books I Love“There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic.”
