Today I had the pleasure of painting with a group of other women via a group online! I am experiencing more and more of this and find it extremely rewarding. To connect with like minded souls across the world is a gift. The group was created by a lady named Hali (her website is here) .. and below is the prayer she gave us to inspire our painting.. in whatever form we chose to use. For All Women of the World, to know equality and divine love within, to heal, to be able to realize the sovereignty and brilliance of the life and body that is rightfully their own, to rise up in wholeness for every person, child, plant, mineral, animal and drop of water. To know Peace. by Hali Karla. I started a little drip type thing on a canvas... and i worked a little on a larger canvas... to 'no avail'... but then I continued on with a journal page I started yesterday. and this is what I ended up with. It was such a profoundly beautiful experience to be in my studio knowing there were several other women in Australia, and across the world also participating in this beautiful offering. so grateful for the dry home I still have... many others in my near suburbs have trees down over their roads, and flooding, it's been a big weekend of wild weather here in Qld.
bye for now, love Denise xo These are just a bunch of pics I took while doing a workshop at Woodford Folk Festival... I was so buzzing with excitement to have spontaneously found a work shop that I loved the sound of... booked the last spot in it... and then once I arrived and saw what we were going to make was THRILLED TO BITS!!! The teacher, Melanie from Kimono Reincarnate was the best! and... the best thing is... she has a tutorial on her blog if you would like to see step by step 'instructions' on how to make one too!!!!! http://kimonoreincarnate.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/how-to-make-japanese-kanzashi-style.html Melanie had another workshop which I loved.. learning how to make a bunch of different flowers using circles of fabric.. I wished very hard that I had brought a sewing kit with me to the festival after that, so then came home with the 'sewing bug' and made a pinafore from a shirt. ala India Flint style. There is a clever lady at Eumundi market who makes apron dresses out of mens shirts (I visited her stall this week,... am writing this on 24 Jan, but wanted to post date it for my own continuum of events) bye for now,
love Denise xo I recall some quote ... action has boldness in it ... or something like that ... Well, goodness, gracious, me! I have surprised even myself today... I have had a desire to make a vlog for sometime... or at least give it a whirl... when I watch other favourite artists of mine chat into their camera and share their thoughts and feelings about life I JUST LOVE IT! So... I wanted to dip my toes into that wwworld. (you'll see below.. I did it!!) I will show you a couple of art exercises that I have done ... in the last few days actually!! I'm taking an online class called Lifebook . The first exercise we were asked to draw/paint our Fairy Art Mother, we were to write down whatever our inner critic was coming up with and have our Fairy Art Mother speak KINDLY to us ... the teacher Tam did an example and this is my version of that very first lesson: What did my inner critic say to me you might ask? "Returning to childlike art is stupid, you're making a fool of yourself". Yup... so my Muse (superior Voice who I am enlisting for her ongoing assistance, clarity and all round kick ass fabulousness), had me do this: Yes, I swear. Sorry about that, as a wise friend of mine said to me, if we didn't need that word then it wouldn't exist. Next, ... we were given another lesson by Tam depicting our journey in 2013 ... we were to give ourselves a 'vehicle'.. write our current blessings on the clouds, and our goals on the flowers. I realise this is totally out of all proportion, my head doesn't seem to fit that body quite right... but WHO CARES... I am making this adventure in Lifebook about giving it a go, a red hot go and not getting all precious about perfection... read above for fairy art mothers advice! Then... we had a delightful example of using stamps and pictures and words to make a 'doll' .. depicting us and the words it would take to 'give us wings' this year. I am certain my Muse came to the fore for this exercise.. I almost heard her shouting the word WILD at me ... and so... I dived in to some magazines (didn't have enough cool stamps) and whala... this happened. And YA KNOW WHAT???? only a few days after that .... today... I created my very first vlog ... it kindof got more serious than I intended but it is a beginning... so I'm happy with that. With love

Books I Love“There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic.”
